How many times do I get to change my mind? I am presently in Irkutsk for a few days near Lake Baikal. On Saturday my journey diverts onto the Trans-Mongolian to go through Mongolia and into China ending at Beijing. From Beijing I will fly home. Korea will have to be another journey at a later date. The coming home into the end of summer sheds warming light into the shadows. All pulls, here and there, regain their proper balance as I taste fresh fruit, oozing with stillness.

This morning’s massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake and deadly tsunami in Japan has made the story about the supermoon coming up on March 19 even more difficult to explain. Here’s what’s true – and false – about the moon on March 19. (March 12, 2011 at 10:48)

Tony Jackson “Happy Birthday Svetlana! Where do I begin? We met here on this crazy little thing called Facebook on the original (and best) page dedicated to all things sarcastic. It was there that I was cut to shreds by a woman whose beauty is only outmatched by her intelligence and with a wicked wit that has yet to be matched by anyone. I joked that I had Anhedonia and that’s when I discovered yet another side of you: the caring, gentle soul that privately asked me if I were alright not knowing that I was only kidding. Right then and there I knew that I was corresponding with someone wonderful. Svet, you are a true original, and before you become a famous writer and delete this page and wash your hands of all of the knuckleheads on it, I feel that it is my duty to tell you that you are someone that I respect and admire. I wish for you on this special day all of the joy and happiness the world has to offer, because you deserve nothing less than that.” (March 17, 2011 at 12:52)

Ted van Zutphen – “I am so excited and looking forward to seeing your haiku in the next issue of haijinx, due out on March 22nd 🙂 Congratulations, Svetulya <3 (March 21, 2011 at 17:19)
