On behalf of the organisers, family and friends of Svetlana, we want to thank each person who participated in this kukai.

Each person brings something of themselves when reading another’s haiku, finding in it something that resonates with their own experience, identity and regional milieu.  Each haiku has something of a transactional nature between reader and writer that kukai events foster.

It is not just the poetic merit of any individual haiku that is being measured in a kukai but how the poet has explored the kukai theme drawing on their own experience, identity and regional milieu..  Time is ultimately the final arbiter of merit and memorability.

Congratulations to Sheila Windsor for attracting the most points from other poets participating in this Svetlana Marisova Memorial Kukai.

A signed copy of “Be Still and Know” by Svetlana Marisova and Ted van Zutphen has been generously donated by Ted for this kukai and will be sent to Sheila.

The haiku are listed in order of total points received from participating voters.  Each haiku listed is followed by its author’s name, and then by a three digit code indicating the number of 3-point, 2-point, and 1-point votes were cast for the poem by the other participating poets – followed by a tally of the points received.

(1,4,6) = 17pts would indicate that the poem above received one 3-point vote, four 2-point votes, and six 1-point votes for a final tally of 17 points.
